This crazy copper hare with his wind swept ears and brass whiskers is sitting in his a wee car made from embossed copper sheet, the front grill and flag is made from brass sheet and the wheels are original pre-decimal one penny coins. His door is a fragment of broken china and his steering wheel is an old button. In the side of the car is a old iron key and the assemblage is mounted on an old leather bound book. It is treated with a crystalline verdigris finish and is 11 cm high. It comes packed in a pretty gift box with a signed booklet.

One of my favourite books from my childhood was The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame. I adored the lovable rogue Mr Toad and his wild adventures in his car and wanted to create a piece that appealed to men. My other big love is automata and although this piece isn't automated it has the appearance it might be able to fly off it's book and across the table.
