My Blackbird Wreath is mounted on a steel ring 175mm diameter, bound in calico strips with Birch twigs sewn on. It is decorated with embossed and soldered verdigris copper and brass leaves, glass beads and decorative charms. Perched on the branches are a couple of copper Blackbirds painted with Indian ink and wings fashioned from a vintage china fragment, to finish things off is a vintage porcelain flower gilded with gold leaf.
In December 2018, I was lucky enough to appear on 'Kirstie's Handmade Christmas' television programme, Channel 4. I was entered for the Christmas Wreath Competition and I won! I had such an amazing response from the people over my wreath that I thought I would create some smaller seasonal wreaths.
